Woodson County Fair - Yates Center, KS

I traveled to Yates Center, KS for the very first time, to attend the Woodson Co. Fair.  It was not exactly as I had expected.  There wasn't a carnival full of rides and games.  No parade or rodeo.  It was basically just a 4H fair and it was great!  I got to meet a bunch of really nice people, many of whom were gracious enough to let me bother them a little and take their portraits.  There was Emily and her horse Hershey, Hali and her sheep(I think it's weird that "sheep" is both singular and plural, but anyways...), Melanie and her 1200+lb. Angus steer, and Ty with his pigs.  These kids work super hard and made me realize that big city kids have no idea what hard work is!

There were a lot of firsts for me at this fair.  First time to see a Round Robin, greased pig chase(totally awesome!), and the Barnyard Olympics(wacky!).  I had a great time meeting everyone and left feeling like I had gotten some great images.  A big thanks to Yates Center for making me feel so welcomed!  Now for some images...

By the way, I have enjoyed seeing the pictures you have taken of the other fairs, you are very talented.
    Thank you,

  2. Thank you for the kind words Randi. It's probably going to take a while for me to get those photos up. I'm shooting my last fair tonight and then I'm going on a much needed 10 day vacation! I think the Franklin Co Fair photos will be in the next couple of posts, so keep checking back!
